Our Opinion… Value for money, reasonable skiing, and a vibey interesting village with great shopping!

The village … Nestling amidst tall pine forests in the beautiful Rila mountains, Borovets is Bulgaria’s oldest established and largest resort. A 2 km long flea market stretches out along the base of the ski slopes which is open day and night, 24/7. Day and night there is music, vibe and activity! Some hotels are huge with hundreds of rooms and downstairs in the hotels there are shops, casinos, bowling alleys, cafes, discos and hairdressers, street artists and more. As the resort modernizes, smaller and more upmarket hotels and log cabins are being built, especially by developers.

The skiing … For beginners and intermediates there are a reasonable variety of runs and some interesting diversions for experts. Some of the lifts are old, but modernization is in progress.

Errors – ski season end at end March.

Shops – A 2 km flea market is open 24/1, clothing and equipment shops, curios, mini-markets for food and essentials. Chemists, Jewellery Shops , banks and ATM machines make life easy, a few laundromats for washing. Street painters, musicians, and more.

The village – is too small to need a car. Everything is in walking distance.

Night life – A lot of the night life is done in the large hotels, which have discos, clubs and bars. Lately developers and new entrepreneurs have opened venues in town.

Small kids – can play, toboggan and have fun at Kids care, right at the base of the slopes.

Restaurants abound –  with all sorts of diners in town, as well as some mountain restaurants for skiers to enjoy.

If you are bored with skiing – you can go to Sofia or some interesting markets and surrounding villages for the day.

Getting There and Around

The best is to fly in to Sofia airport. Meet us at the place designated in your resort arrival booklet for the transfer to the resort. It should take about 2 hours. We offer scheduled shuttle transfers and private transfers, depending on your wishes, and your arrival and departure times. In the village we use central accommodation, so ski buses, taxis and the like are just not needed!
